Opening recital at the Turku Music Festival
Michael Fabiano makes his debut in Finland this month, performing a recital with pianist Vincenzo Scalera at the Turku Music Festival. On August 11 at the Turku Concert Hall, Fabiano will perform songs from Duparc’s sumptuous Mélodies, and arias from Massenet’s Werther and Hérodiade. He concludes the recital with arias from Verdi’s Luisa Miller, Il corsaro, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, and Puccini’s Le Villi.
On August 9, Mr. Fabiano and the Festival foundation’s chairman, Saara-Sofia Sirén, will talk at the Turku Main Library’s Studio about the role of music in the Finnish and American school system. Fabiano will talk about ArtSmart, the non-profit organization that he is one of the founders of, and discuss how it’s funded and about the results they now have. Saara-Sofia Sirén in return will talk about the Finnish school system, where music is traditionally part of the curriculum. The talk is free to the public and is a part of the Turku Music Festival’s series of lectures and panel discussions. In collaboration with the Turku City Library.
