Role Debut in Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s ‘Turandot’

On March 22, 24, 26 and 30, Michael Fabiano will make his company and role debut as Calaf in Puccini’s Turandot at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

This exciting new production by internationally acclaimed artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, will be a commentary on the recent protests in Hong Kong and the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.  Marking the artist’s theatrical debut, Weiwei was inspired by the musical work after performing as an extra in Zeffirelli’s take on the opera at the Met in 1987.

The gifted cast will also feature Oksana Dyka as Princess Turandot, Francesca Dotto as Liu, Rodrigo Ortiz as The Emperor Altoum, Antonio Di Matteo as Timur, Alessio Verna as Ping, Enrico Iviglia as Pang, Pietro Picone as Pong, Andrii Ganchuk as A Mandarin and Chao Hsin as Prince of Persia. Oksana Lyniv conducts.
