‘Il Trovatore’ at The Metropolitan Opera
This fall, Michael Fabiano makes his highly anticipated debut as Manrico in Verdi’s Il Trovatore at The Metropolitan Opera. He will share the stage with sopranos Rachel Willis-Sørensen and Angela Meade, alternating as the devoted Leonora, and mezzo-sopranos Jamie Barton and Olesya Petrova, who portray Manrico’s tormented mother, Azucena. Igor Golovatenko joins as the resolute Count di Luna, with bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Ferrando, the Count’s loyal officer. Under the direction of Italian conductor Daniele Callegari, David McVicar’s Goya-inspired production brings to life the opera’s dark intensity and vividly captures its Spanish setting.
Fabiano’s performances are scheduled for October 26, 29, November 2, 7, 11, 14, 17, 22, 26, and 30.
