‘Turandot’ in Madrid
This summer, Michael Fabiano will return to grace the stage of Teatro Real de Madrid in their closing production of the season, portraying the character of Prince Calaf in Puccini’s Turandot. After a tremendously successful debut last season at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Fabiano’s return to the role promises an extraordinary performance.
The striking production, helmed by the acclaimed Robert Wilson, is a collaborative effort between Teatro Real, the Lithuanian National Opera, the Canadian Opera Company, Houston Grand Opera, and the Opéra National de Paris. Alongside Fabiano, the tremendous cast will include Ewa Plonka and Anna Pirozzi (Jul. 14) as Princess Turandot, Vicenç Esteve as Emperor Altoum, Ruth Iniesta as Liù, Liang Li as Timur, Germán Olvera as Ping, Moisés Marín as Pang, and Mikeldi Atxalandabaso as Pong. Maestro Nicola Luisotti leads from the podium.
Mr. Fabiano will perform the role of Calaf on July 4, 7, 10, 14, 17 and 20.
