‘Don Carlo’ at the Opéra national de Paris

Michael Fabiano returns to the Opéra Bastille to star as the title role of Verdi’s Don Carlo on November 14, 17, 20 & 23. Fabiano made his acclaimed debut as Don Carlo at the San Francisco Opera in 2016, garnering praise for his “seemingly endless stream of beautiful sound,” which was “richly colored, expressive, and with tremendous dynamic control” (San Francisco Classical Voice).

At the Opéra Bastille, Krzysztof Warlikowski’s production seeks to explore the psychology of Don Carlos’ character, an unstable and reserved man, as seen through flickering cinema and video projections. Mr. Fabiano will share the stage with Nicole Car as Elisabetta, Anita Rachvelishvili as La Principessa Eboli, Étienne Dupuis as Rodrigo, and René Pape as Filippo II, among others. Fabio Luisi conducts the Orchestre et Choeurs de l’Opéra national de Paris. Michael Fabiano will revisit the role of Don Carlo at the Royal Opera House later this season.
