On June 7, Michael Fabiano joins his superstar colleagues, baritone Thomas Hampson, and soprano Nadine Sierra, in a concert entitled “American Night,” for the opening of the Whitsun Festival, at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. Hampson has long championed the American song, with the help of his “Song of America” project, which aims to explore connections between poetry and music, and history and culture, through the work of American composers and poets.

Sir Ivor Bolton conducts the Sinfonieorchester Basel and the singers in a special concert featuring songs from Copland’s Old American Songs, a charming set featuring arrangements of folk songs and folk poems from different cultures of ancient America, sung by Mr. Hampson.
