Michael Fabiano stars as the Duca di Mantova from Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. A signature role for Fabiano, his most recent acclaim as the lecherous Duke comes from productions with Los Angeles Opera and the Royal Opera House, both in the 2017/18 season:
“Michael Fabiano gave a super rendition of that aria (‘Parmi veder le lagrime’), sung in meltingly quiet fashion and superb technique. Elsewhere he was up to form, delivering his contributions in a stylish and full-bodied way.” (Classical Source)
“In his Los Angeles Opera debut, New Jersey tenor Michael Fabiano displayed the vibrant voice and confident stage presence that has made him one of the most sought after international opera stars. Fabiano’s Duke, whose music includes La donna e mobile and the opening phrase of the “Rigoletto Quartet,” two of the most familiar melodies in all of opera, was mesmerizing in the role.” (Opera Warhorses)

The starry cast features Christopher Maltman as the title role, Nadine Sierra as Gilda, Jan Martiník as Sparafucile, Elena Maximova as Maddalena, and Corinna Scheurle as Giovanna.
