Abby D’Agostino and Nikki Hamblin’s Compassion
In the preliminary heat of the 5,000-meter, Abby D’Agostino (US) and Nikki Hamblin (New Zealand) collided and D’Agostino stopped running to help Hamblin get to her feet. They both continued running and D’Agostino collapsed. Hamblin then stopped to help her (pictured above) get back on her feet. D’Agostino ran almost a mile to with a torn right ACL, torn meniscus, and strained MCL. Hamblin and D’Agostino hugged after they both finished the race.
Katie Ledecky’s Dominance
